MPond is the primary staking and governance token in Marlin. We had originally conveyed that the token would be made transferrable once the network reaches a certain degree of maturity. Some have pointed out that this proposal isn’t very optimal from a marketing perspective - it requires users to thinking about two tokens. On the plus side, there exist dual token models (THETA and TFUEL) which have been immensely successful.
IMO it wouldn’t be a good idea to retract on something that’s already been conveyed and is expected. So, the question isn’t if but that of when.
The reason the proposal is being brought up is because there’s sufficient reason to believe that the network has reached a certain state of maturity for it to be considered.
